Today I present you an upcoming and talented Rapper King YK hailing from the Harlem section of New York City, His latest video “Risk” featuring Young Dell recently reach 40k views on Youtube. King YK is set to release a joint project with Young Dell entitled #KSGS Vol. 2 on June 25th.

Can you tell me the story behind your latest video “Risk” ?

Young Dell and I came up with the treatment and story line for the video together. After listening to the song a few times, we came up with a cinematic vision for it. The hook itself paints the picture of how the video should go. “What you know about taking risk, had to go get it and it wasn’t given so we started taking shit. The hook itself just sets the tone and lets it be known that we are willing to risk it all to have what we desire in life.

What does your creative process look like when it comes to making music ?

If really depends on the song or songs I’m working on at that specific time. For the most part it’s pretty much the same, I honestly don’t write my songs any more. Everything is just off the top of my head this point. I punch in bar and bar freely. Overall, I definitely just need to be in the right head space to vibe correctly. Normally before getting in the booth, I’ll smoke and then take a couple of mins to talk to myself and get in my bag.

Can you tell me more about your project with Young Dell ?

This is part 2 to of what originally started from him and I just cooking up. It got to a point where we had a few songs together and just realized the chemistry was crazy. One day, I finally came up with the idea of us collaborating on a mixtape . I told Dell my idea and he was with it. The original project was a quick 6 songs and although not planned, gained a lot of attention in NYC. The attention inspired us to create a Vol 2.

Do you plan to collaborate with artists this year for a features or other projects?

I would love to collaborate with other artists from my city. I see artists in Atlanta and Detroit really sticking together. I want that for NY. Overall I’m willing to work with whoever wants to work with me as long as the talent is there.
